Cottage

An example of a control system for a cottage

info@electronhouse.org

Smart cottage example

Cottage systems are fairly standard (lighting, HVAC, audio-video, security, telecommunications). In each case, both the life support systems themselves and the controls are selected depending on the characteristics of the cottage project, and based on the preferences of the customer.

System components
Lighting control
It includes creating light scenes by changing the brightness and color of lighting, and controlling curtains.
HVAC control
We control 4 air conditioners, 8 batteries, underfloor heating and a ventilation unit.
CCTV
We install a video surveillance camera in front of the entrance to the apartment and several cameras inside the premises.
Access control
It will allow you to display a picture from the intercom on a TV, phone, or tablet and open the door remotely.
AV Multiroom
We implement 4 UHD video zones, one of which is with multi-channel sound, and 4 background music audio zones.
LAN & WLAN
The control systems are based on a wired and wireless computer network with two Internet channels for redundancy.

Lighting control

The lighting system in the cottage comprises of 32 groups of lamps and 16 windows. The windows on the first floor are equipped with roller shutters, while each window is draped with decorative curtains. The window in the home theater area on the 2nd floor is covered with opaque curtains. The cottage has a total of 15 zones for controlling the curtains. The lamps and curtains can be operated through touch and button panels that are installed in each room. These panels have been designed to match the interior and color scheme of the cottage. The panels can display up to 4 pages of controls for light, climate, and security. In addition, when not in use, the panels display the current time, room temperature, and weather forecast obtained from internet services.

HVAC control

The cottage features Daikin air conditioning systems that cater to four zones. To ensure a uniform control mechanism, the air conditioners are integrated into the KNX bus using gateways made by Zennio. This integration enables users to adjust the temperature and operation mode of each zone as well as the entire house. The gateways facilitate bidirectional data exchange with the air conditioners, which enables the display of service data from the devices on the control panel.

IP CCTV

The surveillance setup involves both indoor and outdoor cameras. Indoor cameras come in panoramic and standard varieties, with coverage angles of 180 and 100 degrees, respectively. Additionally, some indoor cameras have IR illumination built-in. Outdoor cameras are categorized as perimeter cameras and courtyard monitoring cameras. There are two IP intercoms suggested.

Access control

Access control is implemented on the basis of a security system integrated into the control system. Arming and disarming is possible both from the access control system remote control and from a smartphone-tablet on which the Savant App is installed.

Owners at any time can see the status of all protected zones, the history of the operation of sensors, the time of disarming and arming through the application.

When disarmed, the security system continues to operate in a "less paranoid" mode. The perimeter of the site continues to be monitored, if necessary, a notification and a picture from the surveillance camera are sent to the owner’s smartphone.

AV Multiroom

Full control and content selection is provided for 4 video zones. 1 zone on the 1st floor, 2 - on the second, 1 - on the third. TVs in other areas are connected directly to satellite receivers and are controlled from standard remotes. The home theater area uses a fixed front-projection screen video projector with shutters and multi-channel audio as the image source.

Home theater equipment project not covered in this example.

LAN & WLAN

Modern entertainment and control systems lose many of their capabilities without constant Internet access. For its implementation, the Internet connection is made through a fiber optic cable coming to the village and through a cellular provider. The function of balancing traffic between two providers is carried out on a Small Business class router.

The computer system is designed so that there are several wired connections in each room. In addition, all floors and the area around the cottage are covered by a WiFi network built on the basis of several indoor and outdoor access points. Access points are combined into a single network, and they have the possibility of seamless roaming between points.
