Why control lighting?

Lighting control in a home has recently undergone an ideological change. From a switch associated with one or more lamps, to a button that turns on the desired lamps and not only them. You can turn on, for example - TV, music or open the curtains. And it's with one key. Everything you need right away. That is, from the control of the light bulb, there was a transition to the control of the scene.

This idea takes some getting used to. But back to lighting. Nowadays, it is very popular in Europe to control lighting using the KNX protocol. The protocol is interesting in that 29V voltage is used for control. It's safe for people. In addition, at the moment you can choose the "depth" of automation. You can install motion sensors, or presence, and control their lighting in local areas. Thus, it is recommended to control the light in the passage rooms - corridors, on the stairs, at the entrances.

If your home is already wired and renovated, you can add lighting control using WiFi or other wireless devices. As a rule, this is a set of a switch and a lamp. In addition, there are "smart" lamps that are controlled from the phone. All this is more suitable for craftsmen and from the do-it-yourself category.

Electrical manufacturers offer kits for lighting control in an apartment or cottage. For example, ABB has a solution with DIN rail control modules. According to the manufacturer, such a kit is easy to install on your own. But practice says otherwise, it is better to call a specialist. In addition, such a kit will not provide full integration of everything desired into a single system. That is, coordinated control of lighting, climate, multi-room.

A complete home control solution is provided by linking KNX control systems and a Savant control system, for example, or any other system.

Don't forget about sockets. They can also be controlled. Lighting devices are not always included in sockets, but this does not prevent them from being controlled. Especially relevant - "Did I turn off the iron?"
